Gym

Regular exercise is an important part of staying healthy and building confidence. Going to the gym doesn’t mean lifting heavy weights right away — it’s about learning good form and staying consistent. Start with simple exercises like push-ups, bodyweight squats, planks, and light dumbbell workouts - things you could even do at home. Aim for around 3 sessions a week, focusing on different muscle groups each time. Examples of these include arms (biceps, triceps, shoulders), legs and chest. Always warm up before exercising and stretch afterwards to avoid injury. Progress takes time, so focus on improving gradually rather than comparing yourself to others.

Personal Hygiene

Good personal hygiene helps you stay clean, feel confident, and prevent illness. Shower regularly, especially after exercise, and use deodorant to manage sweat. Brush your teeth twice a day - once in the morning after waking up, and once before heading to bed. Floss daily to keep your mouth healthy. Wearing clean clothes and changing underwear every day is also important. As your body changes, you may notice stronger body odour or oily skin, so developing a routine early will help you manage these changes easily.

Mental Health

Looking after your mental health is just as important as your physical health. It’s normal to feel stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed sometimes, especially with school and social pressures. Talking to someone you trust, like a friend, parent, or teacher, can make a big difference. Simple techniques like taking a few minutes to focus on your breathing, going for a walk, or limiting time on social media can help clear your mind. If you’re struggling, asking for help is a strong and important step.

Sleep

Sleep plays a key role in growth, energy, and concentration. Teenagers should aim for about 8–10 hours of sleep each night. Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. Avoid using your phone or other screens right before bed, as they can make it harder to fall asleep. Creating a simple routine, like reading or listening to calm music, can help your body relax. Good sleep habits can improve your mood, focus, and overall health.

Puberty

Puberty is a natural stage of development where your body goes through physical and emotional changes. You may notice growth in height, changes in your voice, increased body hair, and stronger emotions. These changes happen at different times for everyone, so it’s important not to compare yourself to others. Learning about what’s happening to your body can make it feel less confusing. Keeping good hygiene and talking openly with a trusted adult can help you manage this stage with confidence.
